In life, our values and beliefs are a big part of what shapes who we are and what we offer to the world. In business, this is no different.
When I first started out on the journey of what is now known as Zorluna, the beliefs around the brand were quite different. My initial aim was to offer jewellery that allowed women to embrace their uniqueness. And whilst that is still very much a part of the brand ethos, it has grown into something so much deeper than that.
As my own personal journey of self-growth and transformation has developed, so has that of Zorluna’s. In fact, you could say that we have grown and evolved together, each taking the role of both teacher and student.
You see, the entrepreneurial path is not an easy one and I’ve had to learn a lot along the way to lead Zorluna into the right direction. Equally however, Zorluna has taught me many lessons about life and how I want to show up in the world for myself and for others.
One of the biggest things I have learned is that if you want to make an impact then you have to to be willing to put yourself out there, even when it’s scary. If you want to be seen then you have to be brave enough to make yourself visible, even when you may feel like hiding… If you want to be heard then you have to have the courage to use your voice, even if it shakes… And if you want to be authentic then you have to have the conviction to stand out from the crowd and do things your way, even when you are advised to stick to the norm.
It has also reinforced my view that our values and beliefs are at the core of who we are and should therefore be front and centre of how we are. I.e. how we actually operate in both our personal and professional lives.
Full disclosure though, just because they are at the core of who we are, that doesn’t mean that adhering to them will come easy every single time. Not because we don’t want to or because they somehow lack validity, but because we are human and as humans a sense of safety is just as important as a sense of self.
Often our need to conform and be accepted can unconsciously lead us to act out of alignment to what we truly believe within. We might not always recognise it, but whenever we do go astray from our core values, we can always feel that inner pull telling us that something is not quite right. This is why getting clear about what our values and beliefs are is vital, because it helps us to stay true to what’s really important to us. This then creates a sense of peace and in turn helps us to fulfil our personal purpose.
For Zorluna, I created the following 9 key brand beliefs, which I will delve into separately in later posts:
Each of these beliefs help to drive everything that we do under the umbrella of Zorluna so that we can operate in alignment and ultimately fulfil our purpose and brand mission which is… To inspire women to connect with their inner Goddess in Mind, Body, Spirit & Style so that they can tap into their innate power and create a life they love.
Because you see, another thing that I have learned on my journey is that life is precious but so often we live like we have all the time in the world. And although it definitely isn’t always easy, it is filled with so many amazing possibilities. Whilst not every possible experience will be for everyone, it is up to us to know ourselves enough and to believe in ourselves enough to go for the ones that are. The ones that resonate with us on a soul level.
We often like to think that life is happening to us, and it will if we let it. However, we do have a lot more power than we realise to live a life that we love. One that provides true peace and happiness. And that Goddess, is something we all deserve for this one precious life of ours.
