“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you’ll still be among the stars”

The Symbolic Language of Energy, Pattern, Timing & Self-Understanding

Astro Jewels is Zorlunaโ€™s exploration of astrology as a living map for Mind, Body, Spirit & Style.

Astrology is more than a system of signs and symbols. It is a language of energy, rhythm, archetype, and reflection that can help illuminate identity, relationships, emotional patterns, purpose, and personal growth. Through the movement of the planets and the structure of the birth chart, astrology offers a way to understand both who you are and how life unfolds through cycles of change, challenge, and renewal.

At Zorluna, astrology is approached as a tool for awareness rather than certainty. It can support reflection, intention, and a deeper relationship with the energies shaping both inner experience and outer life.

Through the Astro Jewels lens, astrology opens into the core foundations of the birth chart, from planets, signs, and houses to lunar phases, transits, retrogrades, and returns. Each pillar offers a different key to understanding how energy expresses itself and how to work with it more consciously.

Astrological Associations Glossary

This section offers a simple guide to some of the key astrological terms used throughout Astro Jewels.

Core Terms

Ascendant
Also known as the Rising Sign. The zodiac sign and degree rising on the eastern horizon at the time a chart is cast. It usually marks the cusp of the 1st House and is exactly opposite the Descendant.

Angles
The Ascendant (ASC), Descendant (DSC), Midheaven (MC), and Imum Coeli (IC). These are some of the most important structural points in the chart and are calculated using the time, date, and place of the chart.

Applying
A planet moving towards an exact aspect with another planet, angle, or nodal point.

Aspect
The angular relationship between planets, angles, or nodal points.

Chart
Sometimes referred to as a birth chart or natal chart when based on a personโ€™s birth. A symbolic map showing the positions of the planets, angles, houses, and lunar nodes for a specific date, time, and place.

Cusp
The boundary between signs or houses, showing where one ends and the next begins. A house cusp refers to the entry point of a house by zodiac sign and degree.

Descendant
The point exactly opposite the Ascendant, usually found on the cusp of the 7th House. It relates to partnership, reflection, and one-to-one connection.

Elements
Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. The four elements describe the essential quality of energy expressed through the zodiac signs.

Houses
The twelve divisions of the chart, each representing a different area of life experience.

Imum Coeli (IC)
One of the four Angles of the chart. The IC relates to home, roots, lineage, family, and emotional foundations. It is exactly opposite the Midheaven.

Midheaven (MC)
Also known as the Medium Coeli. One of the four Angles of the chart. The Midheaven relates to vocation, public life, social contribution, reputation, and legacy. It is exactly opposite the IC.

Modalities
Also known as modes. Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable describe how energy moves through the signs โ€” whether it initiates, stabilises, or adapts.

Polarities
Active and Receptive. Polarities describe whether a sign tends to direct energy more outwardly or inwardly.

Separating
A planet moving away from an exact aspect with another planet, angle, or nodal point.

Transit
The ongoing movement of the planets through the zodiac, often in relation to a natal chart.

Void of Course
Most often used in reference to the Moon. The period after its last major aspect in a sign and before it enters the next sign. Traditionally, this is considered less supportive for actions requiring clear momentum or outcome.

The guidance shared through Astro Jewels is offered for reflection, self-understanding, and intentional living. Astrology is not intended to replace professional medical, psychological, financial, or legal support, and we always encourage appropriate care where needed.

Ultimately, your relationship with astrology is your own, guided by discernment, self-awareness, and inner trust.
