The January Blues
After the hectic and indulgent festive period, January can leave us feeling a bit tired, a bit broke and a bit too serious. As well as our strong desire to make changes in the new year ahead, it is also #CapricornSeason i.e. the most disciplined sign of the zodiacs time to shine, which can leave us feeling like it’s a time for all work and no play.
Now don’t get me wrong, hard work is great, especially when you’ve got Goddess goals to complete. However, living the Goddess lifestyle is all about finding balance, Mind, Body, Spirit and Style and sometimes you just need to relax and indulge a little (or a lot).
Goddess Guidance
The word ‘indulgent’ is often seen as a negative thing, but I completely disagree. When we spoil ourselves it sends a clear message to our minds that we are worthy. Indulgences don’t have to be massive gestures that take hours out of your day or cost a fortune. In fact some of the simplest treats are the best. Here’s a few that most of us could easily do:
1. Light some candles
Who doesn’t love to burn candles? Especially at this time of the year when it’s so cold and dark outside, it can really help to create a lovely, cosy atmosphere. Candles have so many uses whether it’s to create a romantic or relaxing ambiance, for decorative purposes or more practically as a light source (think power cuts- yep they still happen). Watching the flames of a candle can be so meditative, it’s no wonder that they are often used during meditation and other spiritual pursuits. Try choosing a colour that resonates with you and use the scented variety so that you have the extra sensory indulgence too!
2. Take a bubble bath
Yes, we all bath regularly I’ve no doubt, but how often do you take the time to just lay back and relax in a long hot bubble bath, just for the sake of it? Not only is it a great way to unwind (mind), but it’s also good for your skin and muscles too (body), which makes you feel great all round (spirit). Light some candles (as suggested above) to help you create a relaxing atmosphere and treat yourself to some of your favourite bathing products. Chances are you got some for Christmas. All you have to do now is lay back and relax!
3. Sit and do nothing
It might not sound very indulgent but I’m guessing as a busy Goddess you don’t spend too much time just sitting down without any kind of purpose. Let’s face it, most of us feel guilty when we are not doing some kind of task. So make some time to turn off or step away from all electrical devices and/or people and sit alone and in silence for half an hour. You’ll be left with just your thoughts, so make sure it’s good ones. Some people may call this meditation, but let’s not put too much pressure on ourselves. Take the time to daydream, there’s plenty of time for reality…
