Astro Jewels: Weekly Horoscope 17th July 2023 – 23rd July 2023

We’ve got another busy week ahead [GoddessName], starting off on Monday 17th July with Mercury, the planet of communication forming a square to Jupiter the planet of expansion. Mercury in Leo can give us that extra confidence boost to speak from our hearts, but also our egos if we are not careful.

During this transit, there could be a tendency for people to become rigid in their thinking or beliefs, and not willing to budge. This could be a good or a bad thing, depending on the circumstances. 

If you’ve got an idea that you would love to bring forth, this energy could help facilitate long term growth and sustainability. It’s not necessarily the best time to take action on it, but to sit with the possibility of it and see how that unfolds over the next week or so. Especially as later on that day we have a New Moon in the sign of Cancer, marking the start of the new lunar cycle. 

This is a time to allow yourself to tap into what it is you really want. The combined energy of the luminaries being in the same space can really open us up to our instinctive needs and desires. In the intuitive sign of Cancer, there is an opportunity to feel into what would make us feel like home. This is a good time to think about what intentions you would like to set, especially around your home and family life, emotional safety and security, self-care and healing. 

Shortly after the exactitude of the New Moon, the nodes of destiny will change signs. They have been occupying the Taurus/Scorpio axis of our charts since the 18th January 2022, focussing on our personal resources versus our shared resources, our possessions versus our obsessions, and our material experiences versus our spiritual experiences. 

But for the next year and a half they will be lighting up the areas of life that Aries and Libra take care of, emphasising how we balance our relationship between ‘me’ and ‘we’. With the North Node in Aries, we’ll be looking at the ways in which we need to take charge in our lives and our relationship to self. With the South Node in Libra, we’ll be addressing our relationship to our relationships and where we might give away our personal power within them. 

The following day on Tuesday the 18th July, the Moon enters bold Leo, inspiring us to take perhaps a more outward approach over the next few days. This would be a good time to let your creative side flourish, especially with activities that excite your inner child. Gotta make the most of these last few days of Cancer Season and its potential for healing, [GoddessName]. Also, remember we are still in the New Moon phase so bring your creative thinking to the table as you continue to tap into your intentions.

On Thursday the 20th July the Sun forms a trine to Neptune, helping to inspire ideals that really connect with our sense of self and to feel more empowered. As this is taking place between the signs of Cancer and Pisces respectively, you may find that these ideals also involve the upliftment of the collective or those close to you. 

This may be further emphasised when later that day the Moon enters the sign of Virgo, which is all about showing up and being of service. It’s practical nature, may have you finding ways to actually take these ideals and put them to work in the real world, not just in the safe confines of your inner world. 

The following day, on the 21st July, the Moon enters her Crescent phase of the cycle, inviting us to get clearer on our intentions and to start gathering the information we need to make them a reality. This is the time to evaluate whether or not our initial sparks of insight at the New Moon are still valid and to make decisions about whether we move forward with our plans or not.

The Sun will be opposing Pluto, the planet of transformation, on Saturday the 22nd July, which could bring up issues around our sense of self and personal power. There could also be power struggles between yourself and others, especially if people feel threatened by any changes you are making to your life. 

However, shortly afterwards Mercury, the planet of communication will trine Chiron, the planet of the inner maverick, offering us all the opportunity to honour the differences between us and the need to follow our own paths. If you find people are still resistant though, [GoddessName], this energy can provide you with the inner strength and confidence to go forward and honour this with or without others permission.  

The week ends on the 23rd of July, but not before dropping a few more big changes to the cosmic landscape, [GoddessName]. Firstly, we have Venus the planet of love and relationships stationing retrograde, until the 4th of September in the sign of Leo. This will be inviting us to reflect on our relationship with others as well as ourselves, and to reevaluate what and who we value. This is also a chance for us to take a deeper look at our relationship with pleasure and joy and to have a heart to heart with ourselves about what that means to us at this stage of our lives. If there are some old creative projects or activities that you have unfinished business with, now would be the time to revisit them. 

And talking of Leo energy, [GoddessName], the Sun will also be getting involved today, as it  starts its journey through its home sign marking the start of Leo Season. I’ll be talking more about this in the Leo Sun Season summary, but in short, it’s time to shine, [GoddessName]! The Sun is about potential and in Leo, it wants us to stop hiding from ours.

Later on that day, the Moon enters the sign of Libra, bringing out our need to relate to others and to feel a sense of harmony in our relationships. Libra energy can often have us people pleasing in order to keep the status quo, even if that means causing inner conflict. However, with Venus now in backwards motion, and with the Sun now in confident Leo, there is an opportunity to find a more balanced approach. One which allows you to value  everyone involved, including yourself, [GoddessName]! 

A few hours later, Chiron goes retrograde until the 27th December. Often referred to as the wounded healer, Chiron is the planet that governs our wounds and the ways in which we feel different from others and can often show us where we hold a lot of pain and shame. However, it can also provide us with our biggest gifts and be our source of so much wisdom. During its retrograde period, it is an opportunity for us to reevaluate our past pain and realise our strengths.

Finally on the 23rd July, Mercury, the planet of ideas, squares Uranus, the planet of innovation. You may find yourself coming up against some resistance from others when it comes to your creative insight, especially if they don’t get the vision, or feel like the vision is risky or not practical. You may also find that it is you who is causing conflict within yourself when it comes to creating something or moving forward with an idea. Again with the Leo/Taurus combo we are dealing with fixed energy, which could have you or others digging heels in and refusing to move.

Fixed energy is great for sustainability, but don’t let it limit your vision. Innovation needs space to breathe, [GoddessName].
