Journalling is the practice of writing about our thoughts, feelings, experiences and ideas and is a great way to connect to ourselves on a deeper level.

Each week we’ll be providing you with a new question, topic or idea to explore. This weeks journal prompt is:

Where do I hold shame or self-blame around my negative thoughts or emotions?

Our minds play a huge part in shaping our experiences in life. Therefore cultivating a mindset that focuses on having a positive outlook is an important part of creating a life of balance, bliss & brilliance. However, that doesn’t mean we should never have a negative thought or feeling, as all emotions are a valid part of the human experience. Life is a dance of duality, that exists within a series of ever changing cycles, and it’s important to honour the ebb and flow of each of these. So think about whether your approach to cultivating a positive mindset is helpful or harmful in your own journey of self-growth.

Journalling is a personal process but we’d love to hear any insights that come up for you, that you’d be willing to share.

Interesting topic. Got my thoughts going lol.

I think it’s extremely difficult for most of us (myself included) to move away from even seeing emotions as ‘negative’ and ‘positive’. I mean some emotions just don’t feel good and so I get it. I also wonder whether our framing of this sort of thing is part of it. I mean excitement / anxiety are similar physiologically but given the circumstances we hold one as more positive than the other. I feel like getting to know our feelings is so important. Hurt for e.g. not nice to feel, but I’m finding it brings me into a much more compassionate relationship with myself… and that feels nice 🙂

Lol, it is one to think about.

Yeah, I think that deeper understanding for me has come with age. I’m still learning to accept and allow myself to experience certain emotions without guilt, shame etc.

You’re right, about the similar physiologies, there is often a fine line with stuff isn’t there. We’re often taught that certain emotions are either good or bad, easy or hard etc. It makes me think about how many of us are or have been scared to be happy or experience success (whatever that personally means to us) and I guess the emotions that come with that 💗.
